WHY

The mission of COUGARS Daily is for the encouraging of believers in living out their faith daily in a 'post modern' and sometimes 'Anti-Church' culture. It is also a platform for seekers to feel comfortable asking tough questions. Please welcome everyone as we comment and post daily about 'A Slice of Infinity' from RZIM as well as challenge each other to walk behind the Good Sheppard.

The Right Side of Pain

"Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain... In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat--for he grants sleep to those he loves" (Psalms 127:1-2)

Slice of Infinity snippets: "Describing the disparity between the mind of humanity and the mind of God, Abraham Heschel writes, “The [human] conscience builds its confines, is subject to fatigue, longs for comfort, lulling, soothing. Yet those who are hurt, and He Who inhabits eternity, neither slumber nor sleep.”(1) In other words, God never sleeps or slumbers because those who are hurting never sleep or slumber. Try as we may as caretakers we cannot be as God to the hurting. We can stay awake with them in their pain and suffering, we can care for them as neighbors, but the house in which the suffering find unfailing love is the Lord’s. This is the house to which we must bring them. This is the house in which we must live. In this season where we journey again to the Cross, might we be as the friends of the paralytic who carried him all the way to Christ.”

Chad's comments: I recently spent some time our pastor discussing reaching unbelievers; he said, “Find a person’s deepest pain and you will likely find what they fear the most. Find the thing they fear the most and you will likely find their deepest pain. Where we haven’t experienced love, pain and fear rule.” It is in the context of pain that I believe we have a great opportunity to minister. By reaching out and touching people in their need (quite possibly by sharing your own pain and sin), we can develop the relationship that may bring the trust to love.

Richard's comments:The last line in the devotion today reads..
"Perhaps the way we talk with God illuminates the depth of our friendship."

Which brings to mind yesterdays Sunday school lesson..
" If your not hearing from God, your not spending enough time in the scriptures"

Sorry you missed it.. there will be another next Sunday 9:30 Springfield IL
Prayer request... Dad (Dale Livingston) is having hip surgery tomorrow.

Have a Great Day (Richard)

HI, just a note from my thoughts on taking with our God. First, I am a person that likes to talk to start with so it is not hard for me to talk to God. I think He is very real and direct in His word to me and I try to be direct and honest back. After reading this devotion it reminded me of several things. One of them is data I got from a Beth Moore Bible Study several years back called Believing God. 5 things we need to always remember:
1. God is Who He says He is .
2. God can do what He says He can do.
3. I am Who God Says I am.
4. I can do all things through Christ.
5. God's Word is alive and active in me.
It is easy to memorize by taking #1 and using your little finger and ending up at #5 pointing back at yourself---make God's Word alive and active!!! I am believing God.
Thank you and have a great day.
